Tonight Williams was suppose to be fighting for the WBC super welterweight title against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (USA Today, 2012). This was suppose to be his night, but life happens and he has accepted that. However, it doesn’t mean that he won’t keep fighting to walk again. When most doctors told him that he won’t be able to walk again, he is being very optimistic about not being in a wheelchair for very long. Williams ultimate goal is just not to walk again, but to fight again. At the age of 31 years old, he wants to fight by 33. Wow is all I have to say about that. What a courageous and positive person out there. Watching his interview with Jim Gray, it hit me that you can’t count a man out when he is down because he can rise again.
This should be a lesson for us all that we can do anything in life as long as we have the right attitude about it and live a good life. Williams is a well accomplished boxer that has a great fighting record of 41-2. Many have stood and many have fell to the hands of Williams. A bright future of a athlete whose book isn’t done yet. Just another chapter in it that we are reading. Many fans feel awful for what he has gone through, but he doesn’t feel bad for himself. Williams looks at it as just an obstacle in his life that he will overcome. If you guys don’t know much about him, take some time out and read about him. I would love to see him walk again and even fight if that will be possible, but right now I’m just soaking in the moment of a athlete that get’s it.
