Stoudemire is Trade Bait for the Knicks

Amar’e is back and we’re damn happy about that in New York for now. We just hope that those knees will hold up this season and the following ones. But the question is tonight is “how long will he be a Knick”? The reason why I bring that up because it’s all making sense to me; Amar’e made his season debut last night against the Portland Trailblazers and he’s supposed to be healthy and ready to go and how can we not forget how the NY fans were so behind him. The problem is that the Knicks organization and James Dolan are probably happier that he’s back, not because he’s their leader and can give the team big numbers but to build his value and trade him.
Many of my supporters out there know his salary and how much he’s owed. This man has $65 million coming to him for the next 3 years included this season. So what the team is doing is just what I thought and that’s showcasing his skills and show how healthy he is right now. Do I want Stoudemire traded? I don’t know right now. We just have to see how he’s coming along playing competitive NBA basketball again and how his chemistry with Carmelo will be. That’s the biggest concern for me. Stoudemire really put his value down by going down again with a knee injury and winning of the Knicks didn’t help him either. He can’t even say that he was a part of that group to help them be a top Eastern Conference team.

Stoudemire did look rusty out there on the floor which I knew he would be. Missing 30 games will definitely do that to you and let’s not forget the other injuries in the past years with his back. Amar’e might be considered a broken down player at the age of 30 but I think that he will give the Knicks a boost on the offensive side and provide some low post defense. Of course I pushing the defensive side to you but you get where I’m going with it. I just hope the Knicks know what they’re doing when they try to pull the plug on the All-Star forward. There might be some buyers that are looking for a name and a player that can sell tickets and Stoudemire may be that guy. The problem is what team out there wants to take on that kind of contract for a player that isn’t durable anymore. It can only get worse for Stoudemire with age it seems. Do you believe the Knicks are trying to showcase Amar’e to trade him before the deadline? I would love to hear your views on this.

  1. I see New York as stuck with Amar'e. They may as well make the best of him being there. He won't be moved til he is in the last year of his deal in my opinion.

  2. Mike that's a great point you brought up. You could be damn right about that, him being moved in his last year. That's usually the easiest way for a team to move a player with a big contract in his last year. But something is telling me that the Knicks have something up their sleeves and I just don't know what it is right now.
