The Judge, Jury and Executioner

Where do I start with this one? This topic was long overdue guys. Roger Goodell the NFL commissioner is a tough disciplinarian. He doesn’t take his lightly as the commissioner and nor should he, but he comes across as a dictator and it rubs many players and ex the wrong way. When Pittsburg Steelers OLB James Harrison called out Goodell I didn’t pay it much attention. I just thought that Harrison was playing dirty and he just pissed about his fines. But other things started to pop up of how Goodell handles situations in the league and I can say he isn’t fair at all.
You have Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger that is caught out there with accusations of rape or other kinds of women dealings; not once but twice and he only gets the minimum of a suspension. I just feel that players should get the utmost fair treatment. Yes, all situations are different, but rape? Come on! We can go back to the New Orleans Saints bounty allegations and you can see that Goodell laid the hammer on this team and suspended everyone except the water boy.

I just feel that Goodell is so out of touch with the league and where it should be. He is a great businessman and he wants to at least double revenues in the next decade by having a team like the St. Louis Rams to play in London consistently as a home team over there (Sports Business Journal, 2012). I give him that, but other than that I’m not sold on his practices. Am I alone in this guys? Goodell just has too much power as a commissioner and I think that the players should come together and correct this and demand changes in his system. The Fidel Castor of the NFL, I tell you!
