I want to give a big shout out to Serena Williams for winning her 5th Wimbledon singles title against a strong opponent in Agnieszka Radwanska. I was watching this match this morning being on the edge of my seat. You guys didn’t think I like tennis, but actually I’m a big fan of the sport. The energy, stamina and agility that it takes to play; ah man, I have great respect for them. However, this is about Serena today and her 14th major that she has won. At the age of 30, she is showing her fans and critics that she still has it. Many were saying that she was done and her great days were behind her. I never gave up hope in her. I just thought her injuries held her back in the last couple of years and her mental stage when she was losing. Now one of the greatest women’s tennis players is back.
There was a time in the match that I thought she was tired and facing anxiety. This final matchup was really about being mentally fit. Both of these ladies are fit and were moving great, but if you watched the match you can see in Radwanska’s face that she was frustrated when Serena was battling back. Williams had her game face on that didn’t go away and she would never let you see her sweat attitude. You have to love it! Great win for Serena and it’s good to see her back on top. Long time coming; Ladies and gents, do you think with this win today put Serena back on top where she belongs?
