Mayweather vs. Maidana 2: Who are you Picking?
The fight of the year is right around the corner and many boxing fans around the world are asking “who will win this showdown”?!Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 will be another epic bout that we will witness for the ages but I’m here to tell you that once the fight is over Mayweather will still be undefeated (46-0-0).
Maidana is a great fighter in his prime and he’s very strong, just ask Adrien Broner. But watching the first match-up between the two I didn’t see that he’s on the same level of Mayweather Jr. People are rooting for the Argentinian because he’s fun to watch and we all want to see the underdog win. Plus it doesn’t hurt that many don’t like Mayweather’s persona.
At age 37, it won’t get any easier for the pound-for-pound champ. His age might just catch up with him but hopefully not September 13th 2014 in Las Vegas. What Mayweather has on his side is that throughout his Hall of Fame career he hasn’t taken a beaten or a lot of head shots. That is what hurt most of the greats before him trying to box for glory in their late 30‘s.
Mayweather might just defy the odds and leave the sport of boxing undefeated and box until he’s 40 years old. Well with his Showtime contract he seems to be put until then anyway. The more and more fights that I watch of Mayweather the more you see his defense just gets better. You have to protect yourself even more when you are reaching the last peak of your career.
Maidana isn’t anything to sneeze at himself. At the age of 30 we can see him as a top contender and champion for years to come. But Mayweather is the Michael Jordan of boxing and as we know in the NBA through the 90‘s, Jordan couldn’t be beaten. So if you were a star you were just in the sport at the wrong time, sad but true.
This will be a great fight but I’m taking Mayweather as the winner by decision. It will most likely be the same as the first fight but Maidana will try to be more aggressive and that might lead to his fate. Mayweather feeds off of that and he will be swinging right back. Hey, I really like Maidana but he’s just no match for the king of boxing right now and there’s nothing wrong with that.
